What is a BiblioDirect Account?

A BiblioDirect account is a bookseller account on Biblio that allows you to manage your listings and orders across multiple sites, including ABAA.org, Biblio.com, and Biblio.co.uk.  If you already sell books on Biblio.com or Biblio.co.uk, you already have a BiblioDirect account.  However, a BiblioDirect account does not obligate you to list your books on Biblio.com or any other site (you can list on the ABAA site only, if you choose.)

Can I list different inventory / pricing on ABAA than other Biblio-powered sites?

Yes. It is possible to list different inventory at different pricing on the ABAA site than on other Biblio-powered sites.  However, the bookseller would have to maintain a separate bookseller account specifically for ABAA.  This separate account would not be able to take advantage of the benefits of unified account management, which include:

  • Maintaining one login and account, rather than a separate account for each site.
  • Having all changes to terms of use, shipping rates, etc be instantly in effect on all Biblio-powered sites.
  • Being able to download all orders from a single console.
  • Receiving consolidated billing statements and consolidated payments for sales.
  • Reducing the amount of places one needs to upload to.  One upload will carry across all Biblio-powered sites.  This includes image uploading.
  • Similarly, bulk record deletions done for one site will instantly carry across all Biblio-powered sites.
  • Books sold on one Biblio-powered site will be instantly removed from all other Biblio-powered sites.
  • Any books added to the rare book room / featured books sections will also automatically be cross-featured in the similar place on all sites.

If a bookseller does wish to create and maintain a separate account for their ABAA listings, they will need to:

  • Log out of their BiblioDirect account (if you are already logged in)
  • Complete the new bookseller registration under a different e-mail address than the one presently used on BiblioDirect.   Be sure to choose ABAA as the site you wish to list on.
  • After completing the registration, it is important to remember you will have two bookseller accounts to which you will need to send regular uploads and updates and from which you will receive your orders.  Uploads to one will not automatically populate to the other, nor will deletions automatically carry across the sites.  Each account will be entirely separate, with its own distinct login and e-mail address.

If I create a BiblioDirect account or subscribe to the  ABAA search engine, does that mean I'm also subscribed to list books for sale on Biblio?

No. If a bookseller wishes to offer books for sale on Biblio, he will need to subscribe directly with Biblio and will be subject to their Terms of Use and fees.

When will I be billed for my first month on ABAA?

The fees for the first month will be billed on July 10, 2009 for the month of July.

When will the first payment for orders be made?

For dealers receiving funds via direct deposit to a US bank account, the first deposit will be made for orders received between July 1-15 on July 25th (or the next business day).

For dealers electing to be paid by check, checks for orders placed between July 1-31 will be mailed on August 10th. Click Edit to Change this Article

Can I send quotes or catalogues to customers who order from the search engine?

Yes, just give new customers the option to discontinue receiving mail or email from you.  It's proper business etiquette, and if you've never had a problem before, you're likely doing this already.

What if I am traveling and can't fill an order in the three days or face cancellation of an order?

You don't need to fill an order within three days, but you should contact the customer to acknowledge the order.  Reason being that amount of the sale is placed on hold on the customer's credit card when the order is placed.  Advising the customer of the status of the order gives them the option to go forward or not.  In most instances, the customer will await your return.

If you're not going to be able to access your email for more than three days, you should place your books "On Vacation".
