ABAA Launches E-Newsletter...New Site and Search Engine to Come Soon!
Changes are afoot at the ABAA! This is the first issue of the ABAA's e-Newsletter. Some people have asked us why, as an organization that encourages the collection of the printed word, would we move to a digital format? As technology pervades, and people's need for up-to-the-minute information increases, we want to embrace and also allow for more interaction. As booksellers and collectors are spread throughout the world, we want to bring people together in an online community. We have created a Facebook Fan Page for the ABAA and even posted tweets via Twitter at the recent New York Antiquarian Book Fair. When we recently announced that anyone can subscribe to the e-Newsletter on the ExLibris listserv, we were overwhelmed by the number of people who responded--100 subscribers in the first day alone. I'm excited that there is a need and desire for this.
Many of you have already heard that the ABAA has partnered with Bibliopolis, the Berkeley-based firm that creates and hosts many of our members' web sites, to bring you a revamped ABAA web site and search engine. It'll launch in June. If you can't wait until then, here's a sneak peek at what's in store.
Over the next few months, we'll tie in a blog with interactive comments where visitors can discuss the latest in the trade and collecting.
We appreciate your comments and encouragement on how we can make things better. We decided to launch the e-Newsletter before our new site is complete, so the next Newsletter will incorporate even more new features and, of course, our new design. Please contact us directly at hq@abaa.org to let us know what you'd like to see.
